An experience with NOFX essays

An experience with NOFX essays On November 26th I went to the Stone Pony in New York to see another of my favorite bands, NOFX. NOFX is a punk-ska band. Punk meaning fast paced drumbeats and quick singing and ska meaning a song played with trumpets. The band members are Fat Mike (vocals, bass), El Hefe (guitar, trumpet, vocals), Eric Melvin (guitar, vocals), and Erik Sandin (drums). The one thing I found out there was that El Hefe sings a lot. I thought he only sings in a few songs but when I heard them play, I noticed that he sang about half of the songs. NOFX music has considerable groove for a punk band and is sparked by the two lead guitarists, Eric Melvin and El Hefe. Tight play between the band's four members, and short, fast, punchy songs, with a laid back approach would even Their songs talk about racism, politics, social problems, sex, drugs, lesbians, bums, alcohol, animal freedom... and many other strange subjects. In their music you will find punk, of course, but also rock, hardcore, ska, even reggae and jazz. If you ask me they are a just a punk-ska band. Their songs are interesting and different from one another. Each song has it's own characteristics. The lyrics are very interesting, sometimes strange, and sometimes incomprehensible. You basically just have to understand them in your The club was packed, or more accurately, stuffed. After much anticipation the punk gods, NOFX hit the stage and the crowd surged with excitement even before they opened the set with one of my favorite songs, "Reagan Sucks." The next song they played was "Bob". They played songs from the album "Flossing a Dead Horse" - which is one massive trumpet solo presented by El Hefe. The next song they played was "Eat the Meek" with trumpet and lead vocals by El Hefe. The mosh pit was monstrous and seemed to gain in size as it rotated in circles ...

The Benefits of a Post-Graduate Year Did you know that each year, a number of high school graduates opt to spend another year at high school? A private high school to be exact, and the enroll in a program known as the post-graduate year, or PG year. Over 150 schools worldwide offer postgraduate programs. Admissions standards vary as do the objectives of the postgraduate programs themselves. It probably makes a certain amount of sense to have a student stay on at his old school for the postgraduate year. If he wants to attend another school, he may find the  admissions process  almost as intimidating as applying to be a first-year student. On the other hand, admissions to a post-grad year at his old school will be a mere formality. Postgraduate years are particularly useful for boys who want an extra year to mature before moving on. The postgraduate year gives young men that little extra confidence which they might lack at the end of 12th grade. A  PG or postgraduate year  is a popular option for many students. Personal Growth/Maturity A post graduate year gives students some extra time to strengthen academic skills, to participate in sports and to prepare for college admissions testing. For many students, it also gives them a little extra time to mature. Not every student is ready for the independent lifestyle at college, nor are they always prepare to live on their own for the first time. A post-graduate year at a boarding school gives students a chance to get used to an independent lifestyle in a supportive and nurturing environment. It can be a great stepping stone to prepare a student for college. Improve College Admissions Chances Many students choose to do a post-graduate year to improve their chances for admission to a particular college. College admissions can be fiercely competitive. If a student has his heart set on getting into a certain college, he may, in fact, be better off waiting out a year in the hopes that his application might be more favorably received. Most private schools offer experienced college counselors to help with the admission process and guide students to craft a personal path to excellence.   Perfect Athletic Skills Other students want to take a year before heading off to college to perfect their athletic skills. From a chance to play on a top team and get noticed by college sports recruiters to strength training and agility preparation, a post graduate year can really give students a leg up on their competition, and get a student noticed by scouts who can get them into top schools. And, many elite athletes earn college scholarships, and a post graduate year can make a student a more desirable candidate.   Schools That Offer a PG Year There is only one school which offers a PG program exclusively. What Is The Connection Between Ch. 10 In Hayek's, The Road To Serfdom, And The Nazi Atrocities - Essay Example This is uncalled for as the dictators continue to enjoy power where the interests of the minority groups are not taken into consideration. Most of the leaders are known to come from communities with a majority in the country and this makes them have a say on how to manage the resources of the country. This can as well be related to history which over the years has left a trail of dictators most of whom have adopted the constitution that was left behind by the colonial powers. This was a constitution characterized by dictatorship which encouraged the divide and rule tactic. This was a disadvantage to the minorities in such countries as they could not enjoy the resources in their own country. Leadership remains a thing of the majority in the country. The case is not different from the Nazi atrocities that as a result of socialism democracy only sought democracy through liberty where restraint and servitude was a common feature. This encouraged the worst leaders to get on top as room fo r criticism was not present and members were also able to accept various values that were laid out (Hayek 86). At the end it is the dictators who rise to the top and with the support of the large numbers they think independently and come up with decisions that favor them. In the Nazi atrocities innocent people were killed as a result of leadership that was poor and did not put into consideration the interests of their citizens. Killing of women and children in any war is a crime yet such laws were ignored. The constitution set up by the German colonies was one that followed dictatorship making women and children to suffer during war breakout. Morality in the constitution was not addressed since women were raped during the war making them to give birth to bastards an issue that left them tortured psychologically. State power only benefited those with the means and the resources to let the ends stable. Groups without common goals cannot hold themselves together and this relates to the social classes that are formed in the society. Through socialism Nazism thought that they would be able to achieve all round development an issue that was never to be. The results were numerous killings which were as a result of the fatal war in the country and it is only those with the means who were able to walk away alive. From the killings it was evident that it was only those with the numbers in the country and resources who would make it to the top and manipulate those who lacked. The fact that they thirst for power and organization makes them use all the available resources including manipulating the constitution in order to get to the top (King 44). Through strategic power, they leave nothing to the simple power which guarantees them organic growth. The ways in which the economic problems of a country are solved determines how through civilization they will be able to manage their economic affairs. The level of wealth has to be improved in order to effectively build the nat ion. The dictators reach a point where they have to become oppressive to their subjects a move that creates a conflict of interest between them and their citizens. Living under the rules of the regime is what most dictators do and this explains why in most countries they haven’t been able to do away with the old constitution given to them by their colonial powers (Ebenstein 55). These results to a country that is planned where freedom is only limited to those with resources yet those who are poor since socialism is considered by many as a hypocritical system.
